Not long after DPMS began producing the LR-308, customers began asking for a shorter, lighter version for which to take to the field after their favorite game. DPMS Answered with the LR-308B.

Sporting a shorter and lighter 18” bull barrel, carbine length free float tube and with the same optics friendly high ride receiver as the LR-308, the LR308B is capable of humane hunting shots out to 500 yards, while being more humane for the hunter that must carry it.
